Systems
The Business Information Systems program has a computer science major
with a minor in business studies. It consists of two-year Diploma in
Science followed by two-year Advanced Diploma in Science. Students in the
Advanced Diploma in Science are also simultaneously prepared for a
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree conducted by the School in conjunction
with Campbell University, U.S.A. and University of Ulster U.K.
The Business Information Systems program aims to produce graduates with
sound knowledge in information technology and its applications. The
program provides technical competency in planning, designing, developing
and implementing information Systems. This program covers both the
practical and theoretical aspects of computing areas. The program is
supported by computer laboratory assignments. Computer laboratories are
equipped with a variety of software, a wide range of computer platforms
with network facilities for training students to acquire analytical and
logical skills in problem solving and systems development.
Minimum Entrance
Requirements
I. Diploma in
Science
- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)/Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Vokasional
(SPMV) as follows: -
(i) Pass in Bahasa Melayu and English Language.
(ii) 5 credit passes which must include Matematik.
OR
- Graduates of Certificate in Computing with Accounting may be
considered for credit transfer to this course.
II. Advanced Diploma in Science cum Bachelor of
Science Degree (Junior Year)
Diploma in Science (Business Information Systems) from TAR College or
other equivalent qualification.
Career
Prospects
Graduates may find employment in a wide spread of industries, such as
banking and finance, manufacturing, consultancy, insurance, software
development and technical support. Job opportunities for graduates
to work as analyst programmers, systems analysts, software engineers,
project leaders/coordinators, systems managers, information systems
managers are available after graduation.
